Lelyn Chestnut, Chief Operating Officer

Lelyn Chestnut is the Chief Operating Officer of McGilton Advocacy Group and plays a critical role in the company’s advocacy, outreach and operations with an emphasis on governmental transparency, civic engagement and increased community connectivity. Hailing from Panama City, Lelyn’s life was greatly influenced by Hurricane Michael which destroyed his family’s home forcing them to move to Alabama.

Since he was a child, Chestnut developed a keen interest in politics, public service, and community advocacy, with values and ideas based on government accountability, civic engagement and community-oriented policies. Through this experience, Chestnut further developed his belief in the value of responsible leadership and civic engagement within local governments.

Christian and Lelyn have been good friends for many years now and have since collaborated in working toward defining the vision and mission of the company. The two still share a common passion for increasing public access, fostering transparency and encouraging communities to be more informed and engaged. Chestnut’s vision includes the eventual goal of running for public office as well. In terms of his style of leadership, Chestnut relies on three main components: communication, organization, and solutions focused on community stability.
